Lee Myung-bak

December 20, 2007

Yesterday, Lee Myung-bak won an election and became the President of South Korea. His political party, that is, his group of voters, named the Grand National Party, won 48.6% of the votes, said the National Election Commission, a group that organizes the elections. He will begin to work as president on Feburary 25, 2008.

Roh Moo-hyun, the President of South Korea in this moment, did not participate in the election because presidents in South Korea can only work as presidents for five years.

In television, Lee Myung-bak said, "I will serve the people in a very humble way. According to the people's wishes, I will save the nation's economy that faces a crisis."

Lee Myung-bak is being investigated because, when he worked for a company named Hyundai, it is possible that he tried to get money with a fraud. Myung-bak says that he did not do this crime.
